Carlo Bettocchi*

He has been an investigator and coordinator of national study protocols in the field of andrology. His prevailing field of interest and research is the andrological one of the disturbances of sexuality, of male infertility and of sex changes in transsexuals.

Born in Rome on 7 October 1964, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1989, specializing in Urology in 1994 at the University of Bari. 
In 1991 he worked as a Research Fellow at the Division of Urology of the Academic Hospital of Maastricht (Holland), directed by Professor Jankneght. 
From 1992 to 1995 he worked as a Clinical Assistant at the Uro-Andrology Division of Middlesex Hospital UCHL and King's College Hospital in London. 
Since 2004 he is Honorary Senior Lecturer of the University College London Hospital. 
Since 1998 he is a founding member of the National Observatory on Gender Identity (ONIG) and currently secretary, from 1999 to 2001 he was a councilor of the Italian Andrology Society (SIA) and is currently a member of the Scientific Commission, since 2004 he is a member of Executive Committee of the European Society of Sexual Medicine (ESSM), since 2002 he is a member of the Board of the European Society of Andrological Urology (ESAU).

She is currently responsible for the diagnostic and surgical treatment of erectile dysfunctions, couple infertility and the surgical treatment of sex change in transsexuals within the University Urology Unit, at the Policlinico di Bari.
